appliance or any part of it is likely to be damaged, or has been sub-
ject to inadmissible strain (e.g. over-heating, mechanical or electric
shock, moisture in the fan assembly). Immediately unplug the appli-
ance, if the appliance is not working properly or any problem occurs
during operation. Do not use any parts of the appliance with any other
device or for any purpose not described in this booklet. The appliance
is designed for partly unattended operation. However, before leaving
the appliance operate unattended, always ensure correct function-
ing according to the instructions given in this booklet. Ensure good
air circulation in the dehydration chamber and at the exterior of the
appliance (see: 'Operation'). Instruct a reliable person accordingly
and ensure that the appliance is always accessible.
• Always unplug the appliance, when it is not in use. Operate the appli-
ance on a well accessible, stable, level, clean, dry, and sufficiently
large table or counter that is resistant against heat and water. Do not
operate the appliance in an environment with extreme humidity,
or harmful or inflammable vapours, aerosols, gases, and dust (e.g.
solvents, fuels, abrasion dust). Do not operate the appliance near
containers with harmful or inflammable substances (e.g. sprays,
paint, some cleaners). Do not operate the appliance under overhan-
ging boards and drop-lights or near any delicate objects (e.g. curta-
ins). Keep sufficient distance to any objects that may attach to the ven-
tilation slits of the appliance via draft. Do not place the appliance or
any part of it on or near hot surfaces (e.g. burner, heater, or oven). Do
not expose the appliance to direct sunlight for a long time.
• Always keep the appliance in sufficient distance to the edge of the
table or counter and to other objects. To ensure good ventilation and
avoid injuries and damage due to steam and overheating during ope-
ration, leave at least 20 cm of free space on each side and above
the appliance and at least 50 cm of free space at the rear.
• To enable correct operation, it is essential to keep the door of the dey-
dration chamber closed and the food trays may not be overloaded.
Always ensure good air circulation within the dehydration cham-

appliance or the openings of the fan assembly at the rear of the
dehydration chamber. Ensure to keep a sufficient distance to any
light material that may be attached by draft to the intake openings
at the rear of the appliance (e.g. curtains, clothes, sheats of paper).
Do not poke in the openings of the fan assembly. Do not place any
clothes or tissue or other foreign objects under or on the appliance
during operation, to avoid risk of fire, electric shock and overheating.
Do not handle the appliance or any part of it with violence.
• Do not leave the appliance or any part of it unattended, when they
are in reach of young children. Depending on the set temperature, the
appliance and the food trays may be hot during operation and shortly
thereafter. Even the exterior of the appliance may be hot—especially
at the rear. If required, protect your hands with pot holders.
• Even with the door of the dehydration chamber closed properly,
steam will escape during operation. Do not hold any moisture-sensitive
objects over or directly near the appliance during operation. When
opening the door of the dehydration chamber and removing the food
trays, steam may escape. After operation, do not place the food trays
on any surfaces that are sensitive to heat or moisture.
• Do not place any hard and/or heavy objects on or in the appliance
or any part of it. The food trays are not suitable for any too heavy
and hard pieces of food.
• Always completely switch off the appliance via the on/off switch
at the rear (position "O"; display is dark), unplug, and wait for the
appliance to cool down completely, before cleaning the appliance
and when the appliance is not in use. Do NOT use any hard, sharp-
edged, abrasive objects, abrasive cleaners, or corrosive chemicals
for cleaning the appliance (e.g. metal scouring pads, scrapers, dis-
infectants; see: 'Care and Cleaning').
