The drain pipe must be of sufficient capacity.
To ensure continuous, fault-free operation, a drinking water filter complying with
DIN 19628 and DIN EN 13443-1 must be installed directly after the water meter.

OPERATION

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION

The heating circuit refill unit contains all components specified according to DIN EN 1717 so that the
drinking water pipe can be connected directly to the heating circuit (see fig. 5).
The integrated pressure reducer ensures a constant, set outlet pressure. Consequently the heating sys-
tem is protected against undesirable overpressure during the filling process.
Upon completion of the filling and venting process, the water supply must be shut off using the integrated
shut-off device. This prevents uncontrolled refilling of the heating system.
The integrated pipe disconnector (type BA system separator) is designed as a 3-chamber system with con-
trollable upstream pressure, intermediate pressure and downstream pressure zone. Each pressure zone is
provided with a testing plug which permits checking of each zone and the leak-tightness of the safety
equipment. The backflow, forcing back and back siphoning of adulterated drinking water into the drinking
water system is effectively prevented by the hydraulic isolation principle. The pipe disconnector comprises
two sequentially connected check valves, that are equipped with a intermediate pressure zone that can be
filled with air. If no drawing of water is taking place, the inlet and outlet backflow preventers and the relief
valve are closed. If back siphoning occurs, the inlet pressure falls. The relief valve opens at the latest when
the differential pressure between the upstream pressure zone and intermediate pressure zone equals
0.14 bar.
Inlet side pressure variations:
The relief valve quickly opens if there are inlet side pressure variations. Water only exits until there is a dif-
ferential pressure of > 0.14 bar between upstream pressure zone and intermediate pressure zone.
If there is a large water drawing point upstream of the pipe disconnector, this can result in frequent pres-
sure drops and thus to escaping of water out of the relief valve.
Should this occur, a suspected defect of the pipe disconnector does not actually exist!
Inlet side pressure drop:
If the upstream pressure falls < 0.14 bar, the intermediate pressure zone opens to atmosphere.
