1. General information
Use of a respirator must be part of a respiratory protec tion program.
For advice see EN 529:2005 or AS/NZS 1715:2009. The guidance
contained in these standards highlights important aspects of a
respiratory protective device program but does not replace national
or local regulations.
If you feel uncertain about the selection and care of the equipment,
consult your work supervisor or get in touch with the sales outlet.
You are also welcome to get in touch with the Technical Service
Department at Sundström Safety AB.

1.1 System description

The Sundström SR 200 Airline is a breathing apparatus that is supp-
lied with a continuous flow of air and is designed for connection to
a compressed air supply in accordance with EN 14594:2005 and
AS/NZS 1716:2012. The pressure in the facepiece prevents polluted
ambient air from entering the facepiece. The unique feature of the
SR 200 Airline is the scope it provides for filter back up.
• A Sundström compressed air supply tube is connected to a
control valve, which is threaded onto the user's belt. The control
valve can be used for adjusting the airflow rate to the facepiece.
• The control valve is equipped with a warning whistle, which will
come into operation if the airflow rate should drop below the
recommended value.
• From the control valve, the air flows through a breathing hose
with check valve and into the facepiece. The connection in the
facepiece is provided with an air distributor that also serves as a
silencer.
In order to prevent the admission of polluted air, the filter mounting
must be blanked off either with the sealing plug supplied or with a
suitable filter. One of the following methods can be used:
1. Seal the filter mounting by means of the sealing plug supplied.
The equipment can then be used as conventional compressed
air equipment. Fig. 1:a.

2. Connect the filter adapter to the filter mounting and fit a suitable
filter. The equipment can then be used as a filtering device when
no compressed air is supplied, e.g. when the user is in the course
of moving to or from the work area, or in the event of inadvertent
interruption in the air supply. Fig. 1:b.
3. The back-up filter can be blanked off with the sealing cover in
order to extend the useful life of the filter. The sealing cover must
then obviously be removed when the system is in use in order to
allow breathable air to be admitted through the filter, if necessary.
Fig. 1:c.
SR 200 Airline can also be used together with fan unit SR 500/SR 700
and approved filters that is included in the Sundström fan-assisted
respiratory protective device system conforming to EN 12942:1998
and the Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) system conforming
to AS/NZS 1716:2012.
1. Disconnect the compressed air breathing hose and remove the
filter back up.
2. Fit the breathing hose SR 550/SR 551 to the SR 200 Airline full
face mask and connect to the fan unit.
1.2 Applications
The SR 200 Airline can be used as an alternative to filtering devices
in all situations in which the latter are recommended. This applies
especially if the user is doing hard or sustained work, and if the
pollutants have poor warning properties or are particularly toxic.
1.3 Warnings/Limitations
Note that there can be national differences in the regu lations for use
of respiratory protective equipment.
As a general rule, the user must ensure that he will always be able
to retreat to a safe area without risk if the air supply should cease or
if he must remove the equipment for some other reason.
Warnings
The equipment must not be used:
• If the air flow test or fit test does not produce satisfactory results.
See 3.2.
• In environments where the ambient air is oxygen-enriched air or
does not have a normal oxygen content.
• If the pollutants are unknown.
• In environments that are Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health
(IDLH).
• If you find that breathing is difficult.
• If you can smell or taste the pollutants.
• If you feel dizzy or nauseous, or if you suffer any other type of
discomfort.
