Important notes
Important information on copyright, liability and warran‑
ty provisions, as well as on equipment users and com‑
pany obligations, can be found in the separate manual
"Important notes on and safety instructions for Bosch
Test Equipment". These instructions must be carefully
studied prior to start‑up, connection and operation of
the FSA 740 and must always be heeded.
2.2
Safety instructions
All the pertinent safety instructions can be found in
the separate manual "Important notes on and safety
instructions for Bosch Test Equipment". These instruc‑
tions must be carefully studied prior to start‑up, con‑
nection and operation of the FSA 740 and must always
be heeded.
2.3
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
The FSA 740 satisfies the requirements of the EMC di‑
rective 2004/108/EG.
i
The FSA 740 is a class/category A product as de‑
fined by EN 55 022. The FSA 740 may cause high‑fre‑
quency household interference (radio interference)
so that interference suppression may be necessary.
In such cases the user may be required to take the
appropriate action.
2.4
Measurement category as per
EN 61010-2-030:2010
EN 61010‑2‑030:2010 specifies the general safety re‑
quirements for electrical testers and measuring instru‑
ments and defines the measurement categories from 0
to IV.
FSA 740 is designed for test and measurement circuits
of category III (motor vehicle testers), i.e. for measure‑
ments on circuits with no direct electrical system con‑
nection.
2.5
R&TTE Directive
The FSA 740 is a class 2 wireless device (R&TTE
1999/55/EC) approved for use in Europe. In France, use
of the FSA 740 is only permissible indoors.
i
In non‑European countries the corresponding nation‑
al regulations on the operation of wireless devices
in the 2.4 GHz frequency band must be heeded (e.g.
WLAN or Bluetooth).

Product description

3.1
Use
The FSA 740 vehicle system analysis is a modular test
device used for test engineering purposes in automotive
workshops. FSA 740 records vehicle‑specific signals
and routes them via the USB interface to a Windows‑
based PC. The FSA system software is installed on the
PC. The FSA System software contains the following
functions:
R
Vehicle identification.
R
Settings.
R
Vehicle system analysis with
$
Test steps (testing of gasoline and diesel engines)
$
URI.
$
Signal generator (e.g. for testing sensors).
$
Component test (testing of vehicle components).
$
Characteristic recorder.
$
Multipurpose oscilloscope.
$
Ignition oscilloscope, primary.
$
Ignition oscilloscope, secondary.
Measurement curves which have been judged good
can be saved in the measuring system as comparison
curves. These can then be used to assess the measure‑
ment results. FSA 740 has also been designed to be
networked with other ASA workshop network systems.
!
The maximum permissible measurement volt‑
age at the Multi measurement inputs is
60 VDC/30 VAC/42 VACpeak. FSA 740 is therefore
not to be used for checking isolation from the supply
on electric and hybrid vehicles.
The KTS modules enables you to perform control unit
diagnosis via the ESI[tronic]
tended to form an exhaust gas measuring device.
i
To use the vehicle‑specific test instructions
vehicle‑specific target data
sions to the component testing, a CompacSoft[plus]
subscription has to be taken out.
These functions also require a release. The release is performed
