User information

2.1
Important notes
Important information on copyright, liability and warran-
ty provisions, as well as on equipment users and com-
pany obligations, can be found in the separate manual
"Important notes on and safety instructions for Bosch
Test Equipment". These instructions must be carefully
studied prior to start-up, connection and operation of
the FSA 720 and must always be heeded.
2.2

Safety instructions

All the pertinent safety instructions can be found in
the separate manual "Important notes on and safety
instructions for Bosch Test Equipment". These instruc-
tions must be carefully studied prior to start-up, con-
nection and operation of the FSA 720 and must always
be heeded.
2.3

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

The FSA 720 satisfies the requirements of the EMC di-
rective 2004/108/EG.
i
The FSA 720 is a class/category A product as de-
fined by EN 55 022. The FSA 720 may cause high-fre-
quency household interference (radio interference)
so that interference suppression may be necessary.
In such cases the user may be required to take the
appropriate action.
2.4
Measurement category as per
EN 61010-2-030:2010
EN 61010-2-030:2010 specifies the general safety re-
quirements for electrical testers and measuring instru-
ments and defines the measurement categories from 0
to IV.
FSA 720 is designed for test and measurement circuits
of category 0 (motor vehicle testers), i.e. for measure-

Product description

3.1
Application
The FSA 720 vehicle system analysis is a modular test
system for test engineering purposes in automotive
workshops. FSA 720 records vehicle-specific signals
and routes them via the USB interface to a Windows-
based PC (not part of the delivery specification). The
FSA system software is installed on the PC.
The FSA system software contains the following func-
tions:
R
Vehicle identification.
R
Settings.
R
Vehicle system analysis with.
$
test steps (testing of gasoline and diesel engines).
$
URI.
$
signal generator (e.g. for testing of sensors).
$
component test (testing of vehicle components).
$
characteristics recorder.
$
multipurpose oscilloscope.
$
ignition oscilloscope, primary.
$
ignition oscilloscope, secondary.
To assess test results, comparison curves of test curves
that have been adjudged to be OK can be stored in the
measuring system.
!
The maximum permissible measurement volt-
age at the Multi measurement inputs is
60 VDC/30 VAC/42 VACpeak. FSA 720 is therefore
not to be used for checking isolation from the supply
on electric and hybrid vehicles.
The KTS 540 (special accessories) can be used to per-
form control unit diagnostics via the ESI[tronic]
Additionally, the FSA 720 can be expanded to become
an exhaust-emission analyzer.
i
To use the vehicle-specific test instructions
vehicle-specific target data
extension to the component test will require a
CompacSoft[plus] subscription to be taken out.
*
A release is also required for these functions. The release is per-
)
formed using DSA (see chap. 5.2). How to proceed in this case
is described in the DSA's online help.
