Operation under especially difficult climatic conditions
Operating materials: see the section on "Prerequisites for trouble-free operation"
5.9.1.
Lubricating oil
Select the viscosity (SAE) according to the ambient temperature at the installation site. Refer to the
operating manual of the engine manufacturer
5.9.2.
High ambient temperature, high altitude
High altitudes and high ambient temperatures cause a reduction in the density of the air. This affects
the maximum power of the engine, the quality of the exhaust gas, the engine temperature and in the
extreme the starting characteristics. If the generator is being used under unfavourable conditions
(high altitude or high ambient temperature), it is necessary to reduce the quality of fuel injected and
hence the engine power. Contact your appointed service workshop for information about adjustments
for use at high altitudes.
5.9.3.
Battery
If the generator is to be out of use for long periods at external temperatures below minus 15 °C,
take the battery out of the power generator. Store the battery in a frost-free place.
