3. Rechargeable battery capacity („CAPACITY")
The capacity of the rechargeable battery in mAh can be entered here in steps (see print on the rechargeable battery
or data sheet). The indicated capacity serves to evaluate the rechargeable battery in the rechargeable battery
programmes „CYCLE", „MAXIMIZE" and „ALIVE" (see chapter Rechargeable Battery Evaluation).
When the „CAPACITY" is chosen as „undefined", the rechargeable battery will automatically be evaluated. The
charger will also suggest the recommended minimum values for charge and discharge current at a capacity input
based on rechargeable battery programme and rechargeable battery type.
Permitted value range:
• NiMH/NiCd round cells: 500 - 20000 mAh
• NiZn round cells:
• NiMH-/NiCd-9 V-blocks: 100 - 500 mAh
If a value below the permitted range is chosen, „Undefined" appears again.
4. Charge current imitation („I-CHA-MAX")
Here, you can enter the maximum charge current; this is used to limit the charge current. The setting does not
indicate any fixed current value with which the rechargeable battery must be charged, but a maximum upper limit.
The setting „AUTO" works without limitation to a charge current of 3000 mA.
The automatic mode works at all times and continually adjusts the charge current to the current values of the
rechargeable battery.
At the beginning of charging, the charge current is 500 mA. It increases up to a value optimised for the
rechargeable battery.
Even if, e.g. „I-CHA-MAX" was chosen at 2000 mA, the charge current will not be able to exceed 1000 mA,
since the rechargeable battery is not suitable for this. The following continues to apply: At „I-CHA-MAX" of
2000 mA, the automatic unit will choose no higher charge current even if the rechargeable battery delivers
the required parameters.
Towards the end of charging, the rechargeable battery will increasingly convert supplied electrical energy
into heat. The automatic unit counters this if necessary by reducing the charge current. The result is added
charge and thus also more removable capacity.
5. Discharge current („I-DCHARGE")
The discharge current can be set in this position.
For this, observe the declaration of the C-rate; see chapter 8. c).
6. Cooling pause („COOL.TIME")
Here, the cooling time (pause) for the rechargeable battery programme „MAXIMIZE" must be set that is added
after each charging process. This pause serves to cool off the rechargeable battery. The presetting of one hour
corresponds to the normative capacity determination. Manually, a cooling time of 0 - 4 hours can be chosen in steps
of 30 minutes.
500 - 3000 mAh
