7. By pressing the STOP/EJ. key (24) again the lid of the cassette deck opens.
8. For brief interruption of the playing, press the PAUSE button (25). Press again
to resume the playing.
Recording a cassette
1. Insert an audiocassette into the compartment with the tape facing forward and
the side you wish to listen to facing upwards. Make sure that the cassette is
not protected against dubbing (the copy protection tab on the upper edge of
the cassette must not be broken).
2. Select the recording source with the function button (13) and if necessary start
this source. You record from the source of sound to which you are listening.
The recording level is controlled automatically. Alterations to the tone and
volume will not alter the recording.
3. Press the REC button (20). The recording will begin. All previous recordings
will automatically be erased.
4. Playing can be interrupted briefl y with the PAUSE key (25) or stopped with the
STOP/EJ. key (24).

There are a number of different recording and compression methods, as well as
quality differences between CDs and self-recorded CDs.
Furthermore, the music industry does not adhere to fi xed standards (copy protec-
tion).
For these reasons it is possible that in rare cases there are problems with the
playback of CDs and MP3 CDs. This is not a malfunction of the device.
