Listening to the Radio

1. Turn the function selector switch (21) to the RADIO position.
2. Use the band selector switch (4) to select the desired
frequency band.
VHF (Stereo) = FM ST., VHF = FM,
Medium wave = AM (Mono)
3. Tune in the desired station with the station adjustment knob
TUNING (3).
4. The FM.ST control lamp (((ST))) (in the display) only lights
up when you have selected FM stereo and the station is
being received in stereo quality. If reception is too weak and
there is noise on the station being received, this lamp will
fl icker.
5. Try to improve reception by turning and bending or twisting
and altering the length of the antenna. Where reception is
bad we recommend switching to FM.
6. An aerial is integrated into the device for the reception of
AM stations. The machine can be aligned to the station by
turning it. In this frequency band programs are transmitted in
„mono" only.

Cassette Operation

Playing Cassettes
1. Turn the function selector switch (21) to the TAPE position.
2. Press the
/
stop/eject button (14) to open the cassette
compartment (12).
3. Push a recorded audio cassette, with the tape downwards
and the listening side facing forwards, into the compartment
(full reel to the left). Then close the cassette compartment
again.
4. Press the
playback key (17) to listen to the tape.
5. With the
/
stop/eject key you can stop playback.
6. Wind the tape forwards or backwards if necessary in the
direction of the arrow keys
= forwards (15),
7. Always press the
/
direction or stopping the tape. This prevents damage to the
machine and the tape.
8. If the
/
stop/eject button is pressed again the fl ap of
the cassette compartment opens.
9. In order to interrupt playback briefl y, press the II pause
button (13). Pressing again continues playback.
Recording Cassettes
1. Insert an audiocassette with the side on which you wish
to record facing forwards (full reel on the left). Ensure that
the cassette is not copy-protected (the copy protection tab
on the top narrow side of the cassette must not have been
removed).
2. Select the source from which you wish to record with the
function switch (21) and then start playback from this source
if necessary. The sound source which you are listening to
is the one from which the recording is made. The recording
level is controlled automatically. Any changes to the sound
and volume do not affect the recording.

Playing CDs

This is how you play a CD
1. Turn the function selector switch (21) to the „CD" position.
2. In order to open the CD compartment, press the
CLOSE (open/close) button (5).
3. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing upwards on
to the central cone so that the CD clicks into place and then
close the lid of the CD compartment.
4. Press the / II PLAY/PAUSE button (6) (1 on the remote
control) to play back the CD. The CD is played from the fi rst
track onwards. The current track and

5. In order to remove a CD, please press the
(7/1), open the CD compartment and lift the CD carefully
out.
Always keep the CD deck closed.
NOTE:
If a disc is inserted incorrectly, or no disc is inserted, the
symbol „- -" appears in the display.
Playback of CDs produced by the user cannot be guaran-
teed due to the large variety of software and CD media
available.
Description of the CD buttons
/ II PLAY/PAUSE (Play/Pause) (6/5)
You can briefl y interrupt and resume playback using this button.
The symbol
fl ashes in the display. Pressing again continues
playback.
SKIP DOWN/SKIP UP (SKIP+/SKIP-) (19/10/2)
With the CD running:
With SKIP UP / SKIP+ you can jump to the next or previous
track etc.
If the button is kept pressed down, the machine starts to
search through the tracks.
If the button is kept pressed down in stop mode the machine
quickly plays through the songs until the desired track is
reached. When the / II PLAY/PAUSE button is pressed
the track begins to play back.
The SKIP DOWN / SKIP- button can be used as follows:
Press once =
This starts the current track again from the
beginning.
Press twice =
This jumps back to the previous track.
Press three times = This plays the song before etc. If the button
is kept pressed down, the machine starts
to search through the tracks. If the button
