17. Range and reception disturbances

If the device has difficulties with DCF reception or the reception of the outdoor sen-
sor, please observe the following points.
• The radio transmission of the outdoor sensor to the basis station functions in the
433 MHz range which is also used by other devices, e.g. by a similar 433 MHz sta-
tion of your neighbour. This leads to limitation in the operation and the range.
• The range stated of up to 30 m is the free-field range, i.e. the range at sight con-
tact between the outdoor sensor and the base station. In practical operation,
however, there are walls, ceilings of rooms etc. between the transmitter and the
receiver reducing the range correspondingly.
• Further causes for reduced range or reception disturbances are:
- High frequency disturbances of all types
- Buildings of all types and vegetation
- Conductive metals which are located in the proximity of the devices or within
the radio route, e.g. radiators, metal insulation glass windows, reinforced con-
crete floors etc.
- heavy rain or fog
- The influence of the radiation characteristic of aerials through the distance of
the outdoor receiver or reception unit to conductive areas or objects (also to the
human body or floor).
- the radiation of interference from other electrical devices, e.g. PC, mobile tele-
phones, radios, electric motors, etc.
- strong transmitters, e.g. for mobile telephones, air traffic, television etc.
• Under unfavourable circumstances, there is the possibility that this product inter-
feres with other electronic devices. If this is the case, alter the location of the
device which is disturbed or is causing the disturbance so that the disturbance is
eliminated.

3. Utilisation conforme

L´appareil est la combinaison d´une horloge DCF disposant d´un calendrier et d´un
thermomètre avec affichage des températures intérieure et extérieure. Un capteur
externe permet de déterminer la température extérieure et de la transmettre par voie
hertzienne (433MHz) à la station de base. Celle-ci est équipée d´un détecteur incor-
poré qui permet de mesurer la température intérieure.
Le produit se compose en tout d´une station de base et d´un capteur radio avec sup-
port.
L´appareil permet d´afficher:
• l´heure (radiocommandée DCF ou réglée manuellement)
• la date avec le jour, le mois et le jour de la semaine
• les températures intérieure et extérieure
Toute utilisation autre que celle décrite précédemment occasionne l'endommage-
ment de ce produit. Cela s'accompagne, en outre, de dangers.
