12.2 DCF reception

• After inserting the batteries, the base station displays the setting "12:00 AM, Fri-
day 1, January 1999".
• The base station attempts then to synchronise the DCF signal (time) for ten min-
utes. A tower symbol
with wave motion (a symbol for the fact that the base
unit is carrying out a DCF reception attempt) appears in the display.
• Reception should be successfully completed within 3-5 minutes. The
"WAVE OK" symbol appears then in the display.

12.2.1 If the DCF signal is not received within 10 minutes

• The base station carries out a new DCF reception attempt every 30 minutes (for
the duration of 10 minutes each time) for the first 3 hours.
• If a DCF signal has still not been received, the device carries out the reception
attempt every 3 hours so long until the DCF reception has been successful.

12.2.2 If the reception attempt was successful

• The base station then carries out synchronisation to the DCF signal automatically
twice a day (1:00 a.m. and 1 p.m.). This means that a very high precision of the
time displayed is guaranteed.
• If a reception attempt should fail, the device will repeat the reception attempt
every 3 hours until it is successful.
12.1.2 Manual triggering of the DCF reception
• The DCF reception can also be triggered manually. Press the button WAVE (H) on
rear of the base station.
