Updating PCS 7

If you want to update the current PCS 7 version on the "A2 image" (see "PCS 7 software product package (Page 20)"), make
the following settings in the Windows 10 and Server 2012 Control Panel before the installation:
● under "Language"
select the language "English (United States)" for "Display Language" and use the "Move Up" button to place this at the
uppermost position.
● under "Region"
select the language "English (United States)" for "Language for non-Unicode programs" in the Administration tab.
In the PCS 7 Setup, use the update function ("Setup type: Update").

Post-installation of software

Use the "A1 image" for post-installation of software and an associated functional modification of the device (see "PCS 7
software product package (Page 20)"). In this way, you avoid unwanted dependencies, for example, license messages from
software components that are no longer used in the "A2 image".

Image files for data backup

Use the SIMATIC IPC Image & Partition Creator V3.5.1 or higher to create image files for data backup.
Please make sure that your PC has the newest BIOS version before you use the SIMATIC IPC Image & Partition Creator.

ClearType text enhancement for digital display devices

If you use a digital display device on your machine, the "ClearType" feature is preset in your operating system. This
improves the readability of text. This default setting can be reset, depending on the connected monitor type.
You can check whether the "ClearType" function is enabled under Display Properties in the Control Panel.

CD and DVD burners
