Hard disks and partitioning

Depending on the configuration of your device, several hard disks can be present in the delivered condition. In addition to a
single-drive or RAID system consisting of HDDs (Hard Disk Drives), it is also possible to configure the device with a SSD
(Solid State Drive).
In the factory settings, an HDD is always configured as the system drive (contains system partition with the operating system
installation). If both a HDD and an SSD exist on your device, it is possible to reorganize the partition layout in order to use an
SSD as the system drive.
The Windows boot partition (Boot) is always located at the first position on the corresponding system drive.
During the hard disk replacement and the subsequent restore process, the size of the original HDD and SSD in the factory
settings has to be taken into consideration.
The following section provides an overview of the existing and visible partitions of your device in the factory settings,
depending on the configuration:
Hard disk configuration
Type
HDD (Single/Raid)
HDD (Single/Raid) + SSD
SSD (Single/Raid)
* The data partition is only referred to as "Data_HDD" if the SSD was already available on system restore.
Reorganize partition layout
An example of the use of the "Reorganize partition layout" function via the Restore DVDs:
In the original state, the computer contains an HDD and additionally an SSD:

Type
HDD (Single) + SSD
The following hard disk use and partitioning results from this after the reorganization:

Type
HDD (Single) + SSD
Note
Risk of data loss
Changing the size of the system or data partitions may lead to problems when restoring the restore image and thus to the
loss of all data on the hard disks.
Do not change the size of the system and data partitions.

Setting the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU)

For PCS 7 operation, the size of the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) for IPv4 is set from 1500 bytes to 1494 bytes. This
setting is necessary for use of the "Parallel Redundancy Protocol" (PRP) in connection with IPv4. On the first Restore DVD
you will find auxiliary programs and a description for adjusting the MTU setting of your system in the folder
"Additional_Products\MTU".
