7.2. Renewing the motor oil
Change the oil when the motor is still warm, to ensure that drainage is rapid and complete.
Remove drain plug (no. 1, diag G) and filler cap (no. 2, diag G), and drain the oil into a suitable container.
When this is done, screw drain plug (no. 1, diag G) back in.
Fill the engine oil sump using the recommended oil.
Reposition the filler cap and screw it on.
Check that no oil has leaked after filling.
Wipe off any oil residue with a clean cloth.

7.3. Checking the spark plug

Remove the air filter cover (no. 1, Diag.H).
Remove the spark plug cap and use a spark plug spanner to remove the spark plug (diag. E).
Inspect the spark plug and discard it if it has worn electrodes or melted or cracked insulation. If it is to be re-used, clean the spark
plug with a metallic brush.
Measure the electrode gap with a feeler gauge. The electrode gap should be from 0.8 to mm. Check that the spark plug washers
are in good condition and screw them in by hand, in order to avoid damaging the threads.
After fitting the spark plug, tighten it with a spark plug spanner to compress the washer.
Note: to install a new spark plug, tighten it by 1/2 turn after it is in place in order to compress the washer tightly in place. For the
installation of an old spark plug, tighten it by a 1/8 –1/4 turn after it is in place, in order to press the washer.
Remove the air filter cover (no. 1, Diag.H).
7.4. Checking bolts, nuts and screws
Daily, detailed checks of all nuts, bolts and screws are essential in order to prevent any accidents or breakdowns.
Inspect the generating set as a whole before and after each use.
Tighten any loose nuts or screws.
NB: the tightening of cylinder head bolts should be carried out by a specialist. Contact your local agent.
7.5. Cleaning the generating set
Remove all dust and debris from around the exhaust and clean the generating set using a cloth and a brush (cleaning with a water
jet is not recommended, and cleaning with high-pressure cleaning equipment is forbidden).
Carefully clean the motor air inlets and outlets and the alternator.
Check the general condition of the generating set and, if necessary, replace any faulty parts.

8. Storing the generating set

Stromerzeuger, die für längere Zeit nicht verwendet werden sollen, sind zu ihrer richtigen Konservierung einer besonderen
Behandlung zu unterziehen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Einlagerungsumgebung nicht staubig oder feucht ist. Reinigen Sie den
Stromerzeuger äußerlich und behandeln Sie ihn mit einem Rostschutzmittel.
Gießen Sie den Konservierungszusatz von "Briggs und Stratton" (Nummer 5041) in den Kraftstofftank.
Entfernen Sie die Zündkerze und gießen Sie ca. 15 ml Öl in den Zylinder; setzen Sie die Zündkerze danach wieder ein.
Lassen Sie den Motor einige Augenblicke lang laufen, damit der Zusatz im Vergaser zirkuliert und sich das Öl im Zylinder
verteilt.
Führen Sie einen Motorölwechsel durch.
Reinigen Sie den Stromerzeuger.
Lagern Sie den Stromerzeuger an einem sauberen und trockenen Ort (unter diesen Bedingungen kann das Gerät bis zu 24 Monate
lang eingelagert werden).
