Controlling the swing phase
The pneumatic system is delivered in its basic position. In the basic position each of the two valves is open by two
revolutions. You can carry out adjustments to this basic position to match the individual gait pattern.
First adjust the flexion to achieve an acceptable walking pattern. You can then harmonise the gait pattern by means
of the extension.
Flexion too much
Turn the flexion valve clockwise with a 3 mm Allen key. (Fig. 7)
Flexion not enough
Turn the flexion valve anti-clockwise with a 3 mm Allen key. (Fig. 8)
Bumper too hard
Turn the extension valve clockwise with a 3 mm Allen key. (Fig. 9)
Extension too slow
Turn the extension valve anti-clockwise with a 3 mm Allen key. (Fig. 10)
Caution: The extension may only be dampened enough so that a full extension is always possible!

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• The adapter used (e.g. tube adapter) on the lower connection must be slid up to the stop in the knee joint
pylon clamp.
• The pylon clamp (8) screw (5) must be tightened with a torque of 16 Nm and secured with Loctite. Use a
torque wrench (5 mm hexagon socket).
• The assembly and adjustment instructions must be observed.
• No screws other than those described here may be opened.
• The use of talcum powder may block the joint, especially in connection with lubricants. We thus ask that you
refrain from using talcum powder!
• Do not use compressed air for cleaning. We recommend the use of a brush.
All of the points mentioned above must be observed since the warranty will otherwise be forfeited.
SERVICING
The joint should be serviced at least every 6 months.
The following should be checked during the service:
• the assembly
• the screwed connections
• the patient care requirements (e.g. weight limit, mobility)
• lubricant leaks
• damage to the joint and accessories
• dirt on bushings
• AP and/or ML play in the joint
• soiling due to talcum powder
• the extension effect of the extension assist (4)
• the bumper (31)
CARE
• Clean the joint with a soft cloth steeped in a little mild petroleum ether. Do not use more aggressive cleaner
since this could damage the seals and bushings.
• Do not use compressed air for cleaning! Compressed air can bring dirt into seals and bushings which may then
lead to damage and premature wear.
LIABILITY
The following applies in the event of damage or loss: Össur will only process the complaint with a copy of the
delivery note or invoice from Össur with detailled reasons for why the joint is being returned.
