4. Testing

4.1 Measuring the injection quantity

After the speed has been adjusted on the injection pump test bench, in
accordance with the test value sheet, the check-back voltage must be
adjusted with the read-out potentiometer (diagram 1, pos. 5) (see test
value sheet). Always comply with the remarks on the test value sheet.
The injection quantity may only be measured when these adjustments
have been carried out.
!
A current consumer must not be connected to the 13.5 V/
10 A sockets while the positioner is operating (diagram 1,
pos. 11).
Exception:
The EPS 910 ballast must be connected to the 13.5 V/10 A
sockets, in order to be supplied with power (diagram 2,
pos. 1).
!
Do not allow the pump to run for more than 15 minutes
when there is a constant ckeck-back voltage.
4.1.1 Checking the injection timing solenoid valve
The injection timing solenoid valve is supplied with voltage by
actuating the switch (diagram 1, pos. 6).
The injection timing solenoid valve must be switched on for certain
test steps. Comply with the test value sheet!

4.2 Testing the shutoff stop

Zeroize the read-out potentiometer (diagram 1, pos. 5), read off the
displayed value on the digital display (diagram 1, pos. 4) and
compare with the test value sheet.

4.3 Testing the starting stop

!
While the starting stop is being tested, the positioner must
be filled with test oil and the pump must not be driven.
Rotate the dial on the read-out potentiometer to the final position
and read off the value indicated on the digital display (diagram 1,
pos. 4) and compare with the test value sheet.

4.4 Checking the temperature sensor

The temperature sensor in the positioner can be checked by
connecting a multimeter to the NTC sockets (diagram 1, pos. 12).
The resistance value can be found on the test value sheet.

4.5 Voltage source

The sockets (diagram 1, pos. 11) supply 13.5 V/10 A. This enables
the electrical cutout switch to be checked, for example.

5. System connections

System connections are required on account of the different cable
connector shapes between the pumps.
These are listed in the SIS instruction manuals and in the KH
Service Tools Catalogue.
The system connections can be obtained from KH (Automotive
Equipment Aftermarket Division).

6. Start-up

a) EPS 865 tester
The EPS 865 tester has been adjusted to a voltage of 230 V ex
works. The tester has dual frequency (50/60 Hz).
The tester can also be adjusted to the following voltages by
reconnecting the terminals on the transformer:
100 V, 110 V, 127 V, 230 V, 240 V.
b) EPS 910 ballast
The 13.5 V/10 A sockets (diagram 2, pos. 11), located on the
EPS 865 tester, supply the EPS 910 ballast with power.
The ballast is surge-proof up to 36 V and protected against reverse
voltage up to 15 V. In the event of polarity reversal, the power
supply unit in the EPS 865 tester disconnects.
