Connecting the Console Keypad
The console keypad should be connected before the
5550 IP Console application software has been installed.
To connect the Console Keypad:
1. Connect the two Ethernet cables, one from the network port on
the keypad to the network wall jack and the other from the PC
port on the keypad to the NIC in the PC.
2. Connect the DC power adapter cord to the connector on the
back of the keypad. Plug the other end of the cord into an
unswitched electrical outlet close to the PC. To help ensure that
the cord stays connected to the keypad, use the supplied cable
tie to secure the cord to one of the Ethernet cables.
CAUTION: DO NOT disconnect power from the keypad while it

is initializing (as indicated by the LED on the left side of the
keypad.) Damage to the keypad could result.
3. Connect the handset (or headset) cord to the designated
connector on the back of the keypad. To keep the cord from
interfering with keys on the keypad, route the cord through the
slots in the handset cradle as shown in the inset in Figure 1).
