Range test
The built-in range test reduces transmission power to an
extent that a function test can be carried out even at a
distance of 5 to about 10 m (33200).
Follow the instructions below to perform a range test on
the Graupner HoTT system. If necessary, have someone
assist you in carrying out the range test.
1. Install the receiver, which has preferably been alrea-
dy bound to the transmitter, in the model in its inten-
ded position.
2. Power on the remote control and wait for the
receiver's red LED to go out. Now servo movements
can be observed.
3. Place the model on a level surface (pavement, low-
cut grass or bare ground) such that receiver anten-
nas are at least 15 cm above ground level. It may be
necessary to put something under the model to rai-
se it enough.
4. Hold the transmitter at hip level and at some distance
from your body.
5. Briefly press the POWER key until the transmitter sta-
tus LED begins to flash rapidly and a low beep is he-
ard twice every two seconds.
Note the following when using more than one
receiver per model: The range test works only with
the receiver transmitting telemetry data – i.e. with the
most recently bound receiver.
6. When the range test is activated, the transmitter's out-
put power will be significantly reduced. At the same
time the beep is heard.
After completion of the range test, which takes 99 se-
conds, the transmitter returns to full output power and
the beeping stops.
Note: You can interrupt the range test at any time by
pressing the POWER key a second time.
7. During this period, move away from the model whi-
le manipulating the joysticks. If you notice an interrup-
tion of the connection anytime while still within a di-
stance of 5 to 10 m, try to reproduce the effect.
8. If the model has a motor, switch it on to additionally
check noise immunity.

9. Continue moving away from the model until complete
control is no longer possible.
Wait at this distance for completion of the test of the
model, which is still ready to operate. It should again
respond correctly to all control commands once the
range test is completed. If this is not entirely the case,
do not use the system. Contact the Graupner/SJ
GmbH service partner responsible for you.
10. Perform the range test before each flight and, when
doing so, simulate all servo movements which also
take place during flight. The range on the ground
must always be 5 to 10 m in order to assure safe mo-
del operation.
Attention:
Never start the range test on the transmitter during
normal operation of the model.
