The following chapter describes the mechanical and electrical structure,
the device components and the functional principle of the position
controller.
The electro-pneumatic position controller forms a control system in
connection with a drive. The current position of the drive is detected by
a servo potentiometer and fed back as an actual value x. The setpoint
and actual value are also shown simultaneously on the display.
The setpoint w is formed by a current fed to the position controller
which is used at the same time in two-wire operation to supply the
position controller. In 3 / 4 - wire operation the supply is fed in at a 24 V
voltage input.
The position controller operates as a predicative five-position controller,
via whose output variable ±∆y the integrated positioning valves are
controlled with pulse width modulation.
These positioning signals cause changes in pressure in the drive
chamber(s) and thus an adjustment of the drive until the control error
becomes zero.
Operation (manual operation) and configuration (structuring,
initialization and parameterization) takes place with three keys and one
display.
With the position feedback, the current drive position can be output as a
two-wire signal J
= 4 to 20 mA.
