1.1 General Information about the Position Controller

The position controller is used to adjust and control pneumatic drives.
The position controller operates electro-pneumatically, compressed air
is used as a power supply.
With the position controller, valves can be controlled as follows, for
example:
- with thrust drive (see DM-figure 1–1, page 13) or
- with swivel drive VDI/VDE 3845 (DM-figure 1–2, page 13)
Various add-on types are available for thrust drives:
- NAMUR or IEC 534
- integrated add-on to ARCA
- integrated add-on to SAMSON (non explosion-proof version)
The position controller can therefore be mounted and operated on all
normal drives.
The position controller is available for the following drives:
- single or double action
For following applications:
- non hazardous applications.
The filter and connection module, the position feedback (pot) and the
valve block are integrated in the PS2 housing. The housing is made of
plastic or metal.
The basic electronics (4-20 mA) and the position feedback (4-20 mA)
are integrated in the 19" module rack with 3 channels for SIPART PS2.
The module rack is made of aluminum.
The positioner is designed with degree of protection IP65/NEMA4x.
The 19" module rack is designed with degree of protection IP40 / IP20.
