5. Particular types of dangers
RISK OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION:
The high speed of fluid in the pump, hose and nozzle generates static electricity. An absence
of system earthing will generate discharge sparks. These sparks can result in ignition of any
solvent vapours that may be present. Therefore, the spraying device must always be connected
to earthed sockets or extension cables, which are located at least 8 m from the spraying area.
WARNING:
Rinse out the unit always with a detached spray nozzle in a separate metal container, with the spray gun firmly held
against the container wall. This ensured correct earthing and prevents static discharge, which could otherwise cause
serious bodily injuries.
Where static spark formation or minor electric shocks occur during use of the device, stop spraying immediately. Check
the whole system for correct earthing. The system must not be operated until the error has been located and resolved.
ELECTRIC MOTOR
Although totally enclosed, the electric motors are not built in with explosion protection. It is therefore important to
ventilate the work zone well, especially the site of the pump. In addition, the pump itself must be set up at least 8
m from the spraying area.
WARNING:
Never assemble the pump in enclosed spraying areas without adequate ventilation. Never clean the pump casing
using flammable solvents.
Petrol engine
Never assemble pump in enclosed areas. Ventilate the site of the pump well. Keep solvents away from engine exhaust
fumes. Never fill the fuel tank while engine is running or hot.Use only unleaded petrol with at least 91 octane (91
(ROZ). Fuel coming into contact with a hot surface can ignite and cause a fire. Always connect the earthing wire on
the engine rear side to an earthed object, e.g. a water pipe.
NOTE:
You can find additional safety and maintenance information in the attached user manual for the engine.

6. Solvents in liquid-conveying parts of airless devices

Halogenated solvents containing hydrocarbons can cause an explosion upon contact with aluminium or galvanised
components in an enclosed pressurized system. The explosion can result in serious injury, fatality and/or significant
property damage. Halogenated solvents containing hydrocarbons can be contained in cleaning agents, coating materials
or paints. Duomax spray devices contain aluminium or galvanized components, and react with halogenated hydrocarbons.
DO NOT USE ANY HALOGENATED HYDROCARBONS IN DUOMAX DEVICES.
Halogen-hydrocarbon
EXPLANATION OF DANGER:
The hazard arising from halogenated hydrocarbons is based on three key factors:
1.
Presence of halogenated hydrocarbons in solvents
2. Aluminium or galvanised components
3. Pressure-generating devices
The emergence of all three factors together can result in an extremely violent explosion. The reaction can be triggered
by the presence of very small quantities of aluminium or galvanised metal: The smallest quantity is too much.
The reaction is unpredictable. Earlier use of a solvent containing halogenated hydrocarbons without disruption does
NOT mean that this use is safe.
