Can't install the USB-MIDI Driver for Windows
(when using Windows)
• Make sure that the USB cable is connected correctly (☞p.20).
• Make sure that the CD-ROM is correctly inserted in your CD drive.
• Could the lens of your CD drive be dirty?
Use a commercially available lens cleaner to clean the lens of your
CD drive.
• Are you attempting to install from a networked CD drive?
You can't install the driver from a CD drive via a network.
• Make sure that USB is available on your computer.
On Windows XP, go to [Control Panel] → [System] → [Hardware]
tab → [Device Manager] to check for Universal Serial Bus Control-
ler and USB Root Hub.
• Was the HT-70 detected as an Unknown Device?
On Windows XP, go to [Control Panel] → [System] → [Hardware] tab
→ [Device Manager] to check this. If the HT-70 was not detected cor-
rectly, it will appear as "Other USB Device" or "Unknown Device."
Reconnect the USB cable, and if the HT-70 appears again as
"Unknown Device," it was detected as an unknown device. Delete
the "Unknown Device," and reinstall the driver ( ☞ p.22).
Software does not respond
• Make sure that the USB cable is connected correctly (☞p.23).
• Did you install the driver?
• Make sure that the computer to which you connected the HT-70
has recognized it correctly.
On Windows XP, use the Control Panel "Sound and Audio Devices
Properties" ? Hardware to check this.
On Mac OS X, go to Macintosh HD → Application Folder → Utility
Folder → "Audio MIDI settings," choose the "MIDI Devices" tab
page, and check whether the HT-70 is shown.
Depending on the hardware of the computer you're using, it may
be impossible for the HT-70 to be recognized via a USB connection.
• Check the HT-70's assignments and the USB MIDI port assignments
( ☞ p.22).
• It may be that the connected device or software does not support
the HT-70's functionality. Refer to the owner's manual for your
software or the device you've connected.
Using the HT-70 without silencing
the acoustic piano
The HT-70 is designed to let you silence the sound of the acoustic piano
so that you can play and practice using headphones, but you can also
use some of the HT-70's functionality without silencing the acoustic
piano.
• Practice the acoustic piano while listening to the metronome or a
piano song.
If you don't want your playing on the keyboard to be heard from
the speakers, turn the Local setting "off." (☞p.20 "Local on/off
setting")
Here are some of the possibilities:
• Play the acoustic piano together (layered) with the sounds of the HT-70.
• Since the HT-70's MIDI messages are transmitted even if you
don't mute the acoustic piano, you can transmit MIDI messages
as you play the acoustic piano for performances that are linked
with other MIDI equipment.
On the model with speakers, the HT-70's sounds can be played from the
speakers. However even on the model without speakers, you can con-
nect commercially available amplified speakers to the line output jack
and use your instrument in the same way.

Error Messages

Most error messages will remain on the multidisplay for several seconds
only. If an error message (such as "E05" or "E06") remains on the screen
for a prolonged time, you can turn it off by pressing [▲] or [▼].

more than 45,000 notes to the song. The 45,000 recorded notes remain

some space by deleting unnecessary song data. If necessary, save
important song files to a computer or other external device before
deleting the data.
E08

the HT-70 requires service. Please contact the certified installation
