4.3 Switching on the recorder

GB
To switch on, press the button
starting procedure, the button lights up at full bright-
ness until both HDD LEDs (3) shortly light up after
approx. 80 s. Then the button keeps lighting during
operation at reduced brightness.
After the starting procedure the LED (3) shows
green for a hard disk which is ready for operation
and shows red during a recording. If the LED for an
inserted hard disk does not light up after the start-
ing procedure, it may be necessary to format the
hard disk first (
If the recorder is used in the network as a DHCP
server, wait for the end of its starting procedure
prior to switching on the units configured as a
DHCP client (e. g. cameras, PC).

4.4 Integrating the recorder into a network

The recorder can be integrated into an existing
computer network in various ways. It can manually
be provided with a fixed IP address or be automat-
ically addressed per DHCP. Likewise, it can itself
act as a DHCP server, e. g. to assign addresses to
the cameras and a PC. The recorder is factory-set
to the static IP address 192.168.101.50 and can
therefore be addressed via a computer. This
address is readjusted even after a reset of the
recorder (
chapter 5.3).
If the present address of the recorder is not
known, install the service program "Search NVR"
(under "Utilities") contained on the supplied CD on
the PC to find the recorder in the network and then
start it. The recorders found in the network are
shown in the list (
To change the network settings of the recorder:
1) Select the recorder in the list and click the button
. For access to the recorder enter the user
name and the password first. Both are factory-
set to "admin". Then click "Submit".

2) Change the settings as desired. IP address,
subnetwork mask and gateway address can
statically be defined (select option "Static IP"). In
this case a specific IP address has to be entered
for each network component in the subnetwork.
If a DHCP server exists in the network (e. g. in
the router), this server can automatically make
adjustments in the recorder (select option
"DHCP"); the values automatically defined are
highlighted in grey and cannot be changed.
3) Click the button "Update". The changes are
transmitted to the recorder and the recorder is
restarted (time: 90 s approx.).
4) To restart the search, click the button
5) To directly call the recorder and to make further
adjustments, double-click the corresponding line
in the list. For this purpose, the IP addresses of
the computer and the recorder have to be part of
the same subnetwork.
