Multi-function sensor with additional functions
BOS 21M-UUI-RP30-S4
Settings on the sensor in the sensor principle
Retro-reflective
Standard setting
1. Position the sensor and reflector to the desired
distance from the object.
2. Turn the setter to maximum sensitivity (greatest range).
3. Determine the on and off point of the output (yellow
LED): move the sensor in all directions so that the
yellow LED switches on and then back off.
4. Mount the sensor in the middle of the determined
switchpoints. The sensor is optimally aligned when the
yellow LED is continuously on.
Fine adjustment to detect very small objects
1. Perform standard setting (see above).
2. Turn the setter counter-clockwise until the yellow LED
goes out.
⇒ The reflector is no longer recognized.
3. Slowly turn the setter slowly clockwise until the yellow
LED is on constantly.
⇒ The reflector is recognized again. Now very small
objects can also be detected.
Settings on the sensor in the sensor principle
Through-beam
Two sensors of the same type are required for operation as
a through-beam sensor. One sensor is configured as a
through-beam emitter and one as a through-beam
receiver. The following settings are made on the through-
beam receiver.
Standard setting
1. Position the emitter and receiver to the desired
distance.
2. Turn the setter to maximum sensitivity (greatest range).
3. Detect the on and off output switchpoint (yellow LED):
move the emitter or receiver in multiple directions so
that the switching state of the yellow LED on the
receiver changes (on or off). Each switching state
change indicates one switchpoint.
4. Mount the sensor that was moved in the middle of the
determined switchpoints.
Fine adjustment to detect very small objects
1. Perform standard setting (see above).
2. Turn the setter counter-clockwise until the yellow LED
on the receiver goes out.
⇒ The emitter is no longer recognized.
3. Slowly turn the setter clockwise until the yellow LED
turns on.
⇒ The emitter is recognized again. Now very small
objects can also be detected.
