The Curapuls 670 produces an high-frequency field that is designed to generate thermal and biological
effects in tissues and joints of the human body. In free air, the strength of this high-frequency field
generated from the electrodes, cables and treated patient is reduced quadratically with the distance. This
high-frequency field can affect electronic circuits of equipment positioned in the vicinity.
This high-frequency interference is in almost all cases the cause of so-called direct radiation on the
statutory permitted frequency of 27.12 MHz. Despite the fact that the affected equipment is not tuned to
this frequency, detection appears in several circuits due to the strong radiation, causing the modulation of
the high-frequency wave to become audible and/or visible (through the neon checklight). With low- and
medium-frequency physiotherapy equipment this modulation might become perceptible to the patient as
well.
The susceptibility to high-frequency interference of equipment from various manufacturers can be very
different. This is due to the fact that some manufacturers are still shielding their equipment insufficiently
against external high-frequency fields. Should interference arise, we advise consulting the manufacturer
concerned.
We recommend paying attention to the following items in order to minimize the chance of high-frequency
interference:
The larger the distance between the shortwave unit and other equipment, the smaller the chance
of high-frequency interference. Place your shortwave unit, including the patient under treatment,
at least 2 meters from surrounding equipment and/or oblong metal objects.
Use a separate mains group (phase) for the shortwave apparatus. Keep mains leads wide apart.
Take care that the mains lead of the shortwave apparatus does not come into the vicinity of the
patient and/or electrode leads, or of mains leads from other (electro-medical) equipment.
Use only a completely metal-free treatment chair or couch.

5 Electrode arms

The metal fixation plate at the broad end of the electrode arm(s) is to be connected to the back of the
Curapuls by means of the supplied hollow-head screw wrench. You can connect the arm with the knobs
either towards the outside, or towards the unit.
The fixation knobs can be adjusted by hand. We advise you to adjust so tight that the arm can still be
adjusted, without having to untie the knobs.
In the top and bottom of the broad side of the electrode arm are holes in which you can click the
(supplied) cable guides. If desired, you can also apply the blind plugs.
Should the purplish shell be removed from the small end of the arm, replace it and fix it by means of the
fixation knob at the small end of the arm, before mounting a Circuplode. You cannot mount a Circuplode,
when the purplish shell is not in its place.
