9.3 Preparation of the working area

* The location where the machine is to be used must first be tidied up. The sources of
supply for pruning materials should also be cleared to prevent the operator from
tripping. The operator must also ensure that his safety is not compromised.
* The machine should not be used if it is on a slope (forward or side slope).
* TIP: As the chips fall on the floor behind the machine, it may be useful to lay a plastic
sheet underneath the machine. This makes it much easier to clear up the chips
afterwards.
* The material to be shredded is sorted beforehand. In this way, the operator can be sure
that no foreign objects will end up in the machine with the material to be shredded.
* The heading foreign objects means: anything which is not organic or which exceeds
the prescribed maximum diameter (e.g. metal, stone, plastic, pvc, rope...). Some of
these objects can cause serious damage to your machine or can be ejected out of the
machine, like projectiles, towards the operator.
* The machine should always be positioned such that the wind will blow the dust which
has been produced away from the engine.
