7.3 General safety regulations

* The owner must retain the manual during the complete operating life of the machine.
It serves as a reference for the user, and enables the machine to be used and
maintained in accordance with the correct instructions.
* This machine is used to shred branches, pruning wood, leaves and all kinds of organic
garden waste. The machine must therefore be used for these applications only.
* The maximum branch diameter as prescribed by ELIET for this model is 55 mm. In the
interest of your own safety, this diameter should not be exceeded.
* Frozen branches must never be shred.
* The original design of the machine should not be modified under any circumstances.
* When using the ELIET machine, all safety regulations must be observed ! Carefully read
all instructions regarding the use of the machine. All these instructions are of great
importance for your personal safety.
* Briefly refer to the chapter for the dealer and check whether the machine has been
supplied in accordance with the regulations. (see
* When you purchase the machine, first allow the salesman or a competent person to
give you some instructions.
* Take note of all safety announcements which are attached to the machine in the shape
of stickers.
* It is assumed that the operator of this machine is mature enough to be able to take
decisions based on common sense.
* It is assumed that the person who uses the machine is fully conversant with the safety
regulations.
He bears full responsibility for the machine in relation to himself and third
parties.
* Underage persons must not operate the machine. However, this does not apply to
youths above the age of 16, who are learning to operate the machine under the
supervision of an experienced operator. Children and animals must be kept well away
from the machine.
* ELIET recommends that the machine should not be lent to others. However, if this is
does happen, it should only be lent to persons who are familiar with the machine.
Always ensure the user is aware of the possible hazards, and ensure he has read the
manual before he uses the machine.
