1. Safety precautions

The High-Dry 300 dehumidifier should always be connected to an earthed wall socket. The relevant safety
precautions must be observed when using the device (refer to the regulations of individual countries, govern-
ment safety organisations, etc.).
When it is being operated the device must be maintained in a vertical position. Caution - improper handling
or transportation of the device can result in condensate that is located in the tank leaking and coming into
contact with electrical components! Before conducting any kind of work on the device remove the mains plug
and disconnect the device from the power supply.
The device possesses a voltage range which can pose an electrical hazard to humans and animals. It must
not be opened or dismantled except by authorised and qualified persons.
Similarly, maintenance and repairs must be performed by STORCH, or by a STORCH-authorised service cen-
tre. Use of the appliance is upon your own responsibility and at your own risk.
Safety clearances: The High-Dry 300 dehumidifier sucks in the air at the rear of the device and blows out
the dehumidified air from the front. The minimum distance between the rear of the device and a wall, or
other enclosing surface, must be at least 15 cm.
The device should not be operated in confined spaces where air circulation is not guaranteed. The side of the
device can be positioned near a wall without impairing its functionality.
The High-Dry 300 dehumidifier has been manufactured in compliance with the relevant safety standards.
Caution - do not hold any objects in front of, or insert any objects into, the fan or grille.
Do not use high-pressure cleaners or abrasive cleaning agents on the device! Caution - make sure the air
inlet and outlet is unobstructed at all times; do not cover or block the grille.
The surface of the device can be cleaned with a damp cloth or other similar object. To clean the surfaces of
the evaporator, blow the fins with nitrogen or air if necessary; if required, align the fins by using a fin comb.
Clean the filter regularly: Cleaning should be conducted once a month on average. If the device is opera-
ted in very dusty areas, however, the cleaning procedure should be more frequent. The cleaning process is
described in more detail in chapter 5. If the filter is dirty, it will reduce the air flow rate, decrease the dehu-
midification capacity and possibly result in damage to the device.

2. Device description

FUNCTION
The High-Dry 300 dehumidifier is a device with a condensation-based refrigerant circuit. It is operated based on physi-
cal laws. The fact that moist air condenses when it comes into contact with a cold surface is exploited here.
A heat exchanger is cooled by a cooling unit, via which the ambient air is channelled; this air is subsequently cooled and
results in moisture turning into condensate. The dehumidified air is passed through a second heat exchanger, where it
is flushed with hot gas from the cooling unit. This process reheats the air, decreases its relative humidity and allows
moisture to be re-absorbed from the air being dehumidified.
In principle, the procedure is illustrated in the drawing below: The air is sucked in at the rear of the device, after which
it passes through the filter (1), the cold evaporator (2) and the condenser (3). The air is subsequently blown out through
the grille by the fan (4) and re-enters the room. The condensate is collected in a container (5). A micro switch (6) swit-
ches off the device if the water in the container reaches a certain level and consequently lifts the float. The moisture
meter (7) switches on the dehumidifier if the level of humidity in the room exceeds the desired limit. The integrated
circuit board (8) controls all of the internal processes, such as the defrost function and the switch-on procedure of the
compressor (9).
