CAUTION
Check carefully that the tool which is used has
the shank length and hex dimension for which
the machine is intended.
Tools without collars must on no account be
used, as they can cause severe damage to
the machine!
Start (fig. 6)
Cold start
Push start switch on left handle backwards. Close
choke - turn the control upwards. Press the prime
pump 5 times.
Push in decompression knob on right side of the cylin-
der.
Depress throttle lever to full speed position and pull
the starter handle.
When the engine starts, open the choke, turn lever
downwards.
Warm up the engine for 2–3 minutes.
Re-starting a warm machine
Push in decompression knob. Check that the choke
is open and pull the starting handle.
NOTE: No throttle.
If the engine stops after a short while this can be
due to a vapour lock, if so do the following:Push in
decompression knob.
Close choke - turn the control upwards.
Depress throttle lever to full speed position and pull
the starter handle.
When the engine starts, let the machine run for a
short time. Then open the choke gradually but slowly
from the full choke position to the fully open position
(this can take up to 30 secs) ensuring that the engine
runs smoothly.
Operation (fig. 7)
The impact mechanism is activated when the han-
dles are depressed and disengaged when lifted.
The throttle lever regulates the machine´s working rpm.
Do not prise with the machine, it is the energy of the
impact unit that must be used to crack the material.
Make a start at a suitable distance from the edge so
that the machine is able to crack the material without
prising.
If the tool becomes caught, do not attempt to free it
by pulling on the top of the tank.
Stop (fig. 8)
Stop the machine by pushing the stop button on the
left handle forwards.

Electronic warning equipment (Fig. 18)
If the machine is prepared for electronic warning
equipment, there is an electric socket (A) on the left-

Note: The plug (B) must be fitted for it to be possible
for the machine to be started.
!
WARNING
If electronic warning equipment is to be
used, the stop function must be checked be-
fore the equipment is connected.
Checking the stop function
Check that plug B is fitted in socket A. Start the ma-
chine and then pull out plug B. The machine must
then stop immediately.
If the machine fails to stop when plug B is removed,
it must on no account be used together with
electronic warning equipment.

Daily care

Air filter (fig. 9)
The air filter must be cleaned regularly. Dismantle
the filter cover. Clean air filter and filter container.
A clogged filter will eventually cause damage to the
engine.
Spark plug (fig. 10)
The spark plug is located on the cylinder top. Under
the service cover.
Replace the plug if it is dirty or burnt. Use original
Champion RCJ8.
Electrode gap should be 0.6-0.7 mm .
Gearbox oil level (Fig. 11))
The oil level in the gearbox must be checked every
month. The level in the gearbox is checked by un-
screwing the oil plug. The correct level of oil is the
bottom edge of the filler hole when the machine is
upright. If necessary, top up with diesel engine oil
SAE 15W/40 API:CD.
Note: The oil capacity of the gearbox is 0.1 litres.
