b) Mounting the Rudder Unit

Then install the rudder unit into the intended fuselage opening (figure 1a, item 2) and place it centrally on the fuselage.
Measure the precise position of the rudder unit to the elevator (see figure 1b, bottom). Revision for adjustment and
location of the fuselage must be performed with suitable grinding paper.
When everything has been measured perfectly, disconnect the rudder from the fuselage again. If the iron-on film is
placed within the adhesive areas, it must be removed carefully with a soldering gun.
Important:
The accuracy of this work considerably influences the flight properties.
Use a soldering gun set to the lowest temperature if possible to remove the iron-on film. Removing the film
with a cutter knife is not recommended since the fibres of the wood tail unit are injured and thus may lead to
strength problems.
Then you can attach the rudder unit permanently to the fuselage with 30-minute epoxy glue. Align the rudder unit to
the fuselage as illustrated in figures 1a and 1b.
The rudder is attached to the rudder unit by three rudder hinges. The rudder hinge slots are pre-installed ex works.
Mark the positions of the rudder hinges before removing the rudder. Glue the rudder hinges to the rudder with super
glue first. Observe that the hinges do not protrude too far into the rudder.
Then glue the rudder to the rudder unit with super glue as well so that a gap of approx. 1 mm results.

c) Mounting the Rudder Horns to the Rudders and Elevators

Mark the installation site of the rudder horn to the rudder
in a straight line from the linkage exit of the rudder
linkage.
Observe that the linkage rods for the rudder in the rear
area of the fuselage (viewed from the back in flight
direction) are guided out of the fuselage on the left
(figure 2, item 1).
Drill the corresponding hole with a matching drill (or
cutter knife).
The rudder horn can now be glued on with 5-minute
epoxy resin glue as shown symbolically in figure 2, item
2.
The elevator linkage is guided out of the right area
(viewed from behind in flight direction) of the rudder
linkage (figure 2, item 3).
Again, the installation site of the rudder horn must be determined according to a straight line from the slot to the
elevator and the rudder horn must be installed there (as shown for the rudder).
