c) Checking the propeller
Before using the model boat, check the propeller and locknuts for any signs of damage and ensure that they are
secured properly. If a propeller is damaged, replace it before using the boat. Damaged propellers may fall off or break
when the boat is moving. This may result in further damage, and you may not be able to control the boat.
For more information on the propeller, see "Replacing the propeller".
Attention!
The propeller is very sharp and may cause injuries and/or damage to property during handling, use, or
when the propeller is replaced.
d) Testing the rudder system
Check that the rudder is working correctly. See section 9 ("Using the remote control") for details.
Before each use, inspect the rudder system and linkage for signs of damage and ensure that they are
securely in place. If the linkage is loose or damaged (e.g. there are loose screws at the rear end), repair it
before using the boat. If the linkage is not repaired, the linkage rod and/or the rudder system may fall off
when the boat is moving.
This may result in further damage (e.g. to the steering servo), and you will not be able to control the boat.
Refer to the instructions in section 10.
Metal screw connections must be secured with lock nuts or a drop of thread-locking fluid to prevent them
from becoming loose.
e) Inserting batteries into the remote control
Slide off the battery compartment holder on the bottom of the remote control. Insert four AA batteries into the battery
compartment in the correct polarity. Observe the polarity markings (+ / -) in the battery compartment. Replace the
battery compartment cover.
Using rechargeable batteries is not recommended due to their lower voltage (disposable batteries =
1.5 V, rechargeable batteries = 1.2 V) and their tendency to self discharge (the remote control would quickly
indicate that the batteries are empty).
The remote control only uses a small amount of electricity, therefore disposable batteries will last signifi-
cantly longer. We recommend using high-quality alkaline batteries.
