Installation instructions

The operating instructions for this Truma appliance are
an important part of these installation instructions and
must be followed. Read the installation instructions, the
operating instructions and the safety instructions care-
fully before commencing the work, and then comply
with them.

The heater must be installed and repaired only by an
expert.

Regulations

The rules in the installation and operating instructions
and the respective valid laws, directives and standards
must be observed. The appliance's operating permit, and con-
sequently also the vehicle's operating permit in some coun-
tries, are rendered void if the regulations are not followed.
Material defect claims, warranty claims and liability claims
against Truma are excluded in the cases described in the op-
erating instructions under the heading "Warranty exclusions".

Notes for the installer

The appliance and its exhaust gas system must always be
installed so that they are easy to access at all times for service
work, and are also easy to remove and install.
The combustion air must not be taken from the vehicle
interior. The combustion air must be routed in from the
outside!
Avoid installation in narrow passageways.
In particular, accidental contact with hot surfaces or
escaping warm air must be prevented by suitable measures
where vulnerable persons such as children are present. The
installer is responsible for this.
The year when the equipment was first put into opera-
tion must be indicated with a cross on the type plate
(see installation example, 9).
Different variants and components are available for adapting
to the vehicle characteristics. Besides the space available,
particular attention must be paid to the following points:

1. Left or right exhaust duct connection

The heater is available with a left exhaust duct connection
(control knob on right) or right exhaust duct connection (con-
trol knob on left).

2. Exhaust gas system through side or rear wall

Ducts for the exhaust gas system and combustion air (only
with wall cowl) can be angled to the rear through the heater's
side wall or through the rear wall.
3. Installation in the cabinet or free-standing in
the room
The heater can be installed in the wardrobe (Figure A1) with
installation box or free-standing in the room with rear wall
(Figure A2).
– The Truma "installation box 2200" must be used for installa-
tion in the cabinet!
– The Truma "rear wall with heat conducting plate RWSL"
must be used for free-standing installation with an exhaust
duct connection on the right.
– The Truma "rear wall with heat conducting plate RWS"
must be used for free-standing installation with an exhaust
duct connection on the left.
If a perforated drawer is installed over the heater that is
used e.g. for drying objects, it is essential to install an
intermediate shelf made from non-coated wood (minimum
depth 250 mm) (Figure A3). The covers of the installation
compartment must be made from temperature-resistant ma-
terial (not PVC or the like).
It must be ensured that the drill holes can be made in accord-
ance with the floor template.
There must not be any heat-sensitive materials beneath
the appliance (cut out the carpet floor). On PVC floors,
discolouration may occur due to heating of the heater base.

4. Installation with wall or roof cowl

The exhaust duct, wall cowl or roof cowl must be in-
stalled so that exhaust gas cannot enter the interior of
the vehicle.

– Notes on the wall cowl

Fire hazard from overheating and/or danger of
suffocation from exhaust fumes if installed incorrectly
or if parts other than original Truma parts are used for the
exhaust gas system.
– Use only original Truma parts for the exhaust gas system.
– Follow the installation instructions when installing the ex-
haust gas system.
The following Truma original parts are essential for in-
stallation with a wall cowl:
Wall cowl
AKW 2
Exhaust duct
AE 3
Combustion air duct
AE 3
Duct (insulating duct)
ÜR
Double duct support
The heater is only tested and approved with these original
Truma parts.
The wall cowl must be attached such that there is no
fuel tank filler neck or fuel tank breather opening within
500 mm. When selecting the location, also ensure that there
are no opening windows, hatches or ventilation openings for
the living compartment directly above and 300 mm to the side
(see Figure B).
Fit the wall cowl to a surface that is as flat as possible so that
air can flow around at all sides.
For operating safety reasons it is essential to position
the wall cowl at the prescribed height. This height (dis-
tance between heater pedestal and centre of hole for exhaust
gas shaft) is oriented to the duct lengths that are used.
– Installation situation
For duct lengths of 40 to 75 cm. The exhaust gas shaft must
be installed at a minimum height of 33 cm.
– Installation situation
For duct lengths greater than 75 to 120 cm. The exhaust
gas shaft must be installed at a minimum height of 66 cm.
If necessary, make allowance for space for mounting a double
duct support (26) (Figure C1).
