27. Basic DVD knowledge
The DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) can store a multiple of the data of the traditional CD.
The data carrier can thereby be written on bothe sides (e.g. one side by the main film,
the other side the bonus material) or also in two layers (brief switch.over pause for
changing the laser from one layer to the other is normal!).
Due to this high capacity it is possible to accommodate on one DVD feature films in
cinema quality, in 3D sound (5.1, front left, fron right, centre, back left, back right,
subwoofer), in several languages and with subtitles in different languages.
With the DVD video it is possible to select between the picture formats 4:3 (standard
format) and 16:9 whereby cinema films are normally almost always in broadband for-
mat (e.g. 16:9, or 1,85:1, 2,35:1 etc.).
A DVD is subtitled into titles and chapters. On one DVD there are several titles. One
title (e.g. film, film trailer etc.) can be divided into several chapters.
Also possible with the DVD are different camera views (viewing angle) of a film scene.
This feature is, however, both cost-intensive (film scenes have to be shot with sever-
al cameras at the same time) and memory.ntensive (much room required on the
DVD).

The content of a DVD (the languages included on the DVD, sub-titles or
encores, features) are very different from DVD to DVD. Please observe the
information concerning the content on the back of the DVD packaging.
To prevent DVDs from one certain region of the world being able to be played in
another region (e.g. the sales start of a DVD in Europe is often much later than in the
U.S.A.), each DVD has a so-called regional code.
On the back of the DVD you will usually find a symbol similar to the globe with a num-
ber in it; for Europe this number is "2": that is the regional code.
If a CD is inserted into the DVD player the code of which does not agree with that of
the DVD player (e.g. import DVDs from the USA), it cannot be played.
Die TV/DVD-Kombi besitzt den Regionalcode "2".
If the DVD has the regional "0", it can be played in any DVD-Playe.

1. Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Empfang und Darstellung von analogen TV-Signalen (Anten-
ne/Kabelfernsehen) geeignet.
Weiterhin ist ein DVD-Player eingebaut, der DVDs, SVCDs, VCDs, MP3- und Audio-
CDs wiedergeben kann.
Dieses Produkt ist nur für den Anschluss an eine Netzspannung von 230V~/50Hz
zugelassen.
Eine Verwendung ist nur in geschlossenen Innenräumen erlaubt. Der Kontakt mit
Feuchtigkeit (z.B. im Badezimmer) ist unbedingt zu vermeiden.
Eine andere Verwendung als zuvor beschrieben führt zu Beschädigungen dieses
Produkts, außerdem ist dies mit Gefahren wie z.B. Kurzschluss, Brand, elektrischer
Schlag etc. verbunden.
Das gesamte Produkt darf nicht geändert bzw. umgebaut werden. Das Gehäuse darf
nicht geöffnet werden. Die auf dem Produkt befindlichen Aufkleber dürfen nicht
beschädigt oder entfernt werden.
Die Sicherheitshinweise sind unbedingt zu befolgen!
