13. INSERTING/CHANGING THE BATTERIES
The voltage tester requires two micro batteries (type AAA, included in the delivery) for operation.
Proceed as follows to insert or change the batteries:
• Turn the battery compartment lid (4) by 90° counter-clockwise with a suitable screwdriver and take it
off.
• Insert two micro-batteries (AAA) into the battery compartment. Observe the correct polarity as indicated
in the battery compartment. Use alkaline batteries if possible, as they have a longer service life.
• Close and screw shut the battery compartment lid carefully again.
Batteries must be replaced when the battery change symbol
display remains dark after touching the two measuring prods.
The VC-58 will not indicate any voltage if the batteries are empty. The device must not
be operated with empty or without batteries.
To prevent damage to the device from leaking batteries, remove the batteries from the device if you do
not use it for an extended period. For the same reason, it is recommended that flat batteries be removed
at once.

14. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Regularly check technical safety of the voltage tester.
It can be assumed that correct operation is no longer possible if:
• the device shows visible damage
• the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for an extended period of time
• the device has been subjected to heavy stress during transport
Clean the exterior of the device with a soft, moist cloth or brush only. Never use any abrasive cleansing
or chemical agents since these may damage the casing or impair its function. Do not try to open the cas-
ing, except for the battery compartment.
