- Attach the red measuring lead (15m) to the measuring socket "C" (10) on the meter. The alligator
clamp is then directly connected to the second, most distant probe (c1). This connection is also
labelled "S".
- Turn the meter on and select the measuring range "EARTH VOLTAGE". This measures whether
there is AC voltage in the earth/ground potential. Warning! The voltage at the "P" and "E" inputs must
never exceed 200 V/AC.
The earth voltage measurement must result in a voltage value of <10 V/AC. If this
value is greater than the value recommended, there may be incorrect measurements
for earth/grounding and the measurements are thus worthless. The interfering volta-
ge source must first be removed before measurements can be made. If the measured
earth voltage is below 10 V, you can continue with the earthing measurements.
- Select a measuring range which has previously been zeroed (preferably 20 Ohm).
During measurements, an acoustic beep tone and a flashing lightning bolt symbol
warn of applied test voltage within the measurement leads. Make sure that nobody is
working on the installation(s) being tested and that no one is touching any of its
components. Danger of electric shock.
- Press the "TEST" button (4). The measurement is started and is signalled by a lightning symbol. The
measured value is indicated on the display When the measurement circuit is closed a beep
tone/signal can be heard.
- If "I. . ." (= overflow) appears on the display, you have exceeded the measuring range or the measur-
ing circuit is highly resistant / at high ohms. Select the next highest measuring range Warning!
Ensure you zero the range.
- Pressing the "TEST" button again or turning the dial will end the measurement. After measuring,
remove the measuring leads from the measuring object and turn the device off.
Making simplified earthing measurements
Simplified resistance measurements can be used to quickly check earthing resistance. This measure-
ment method is used wherever there are no measurement probes available. This measurement only
requires the short measurement leads. The two connections "C" and "P" are connected to one another
with the red double-plug measuring lead: the measurement is thus possible with two clamps.
- Now zero the range as described before under "Zero balancing/zeroing".
- Connect the short green measuring lead to the measuring socket "E" and connect the two plugs on
the short red measuring lead with the "P" and "C" sockets. The "P" and "C" sockets are connected to
one another via the measuring lead.
