OPERATION
Engine Lubrication Oil
(a)
Fill the engine sump with oil to API
classification CC/CD/CE grade through
the filler (A Fig.7.4.2)
(b)
Always check level of oil with the dipstick
(AFig.7.4.5) and ensure machine is on
level ground when checking. Capacity 9.5
litres (16.72 Imp pints) (20.08 US pints)
Coolant
Fill the radiator (A Fig.7.4.3) and half fill the
expansion tank (B Fig.7.4.3) with a 50% antifreeze
solution.
Capacity 6.8 litres (12 imp pints) (14.4 US pints)
IMPORTANT
Always allow the engine to warm up sufficiently
before full load and speed is applied, otherwise
the life of the engine will be shortened.

TO START THE ENGINE

Turn the keyswitch to the 'PREHEAT' position,
when the glow plug indicator lamp on the
instrument goes out continue turning the key to
the 'START' position. When the engine has
started, release the key and allow it to return to
the 'ON' position.
IMPORTANT
(a)
Do not turn key whilst engine is running.
(b)
If the engine fails to start within 10
seconds of switching on, wait for a further
30 seconds before attempting to start the
engine again.
(c)
Do not allow the starter motor to run for
more than 30 seconds, otherwise failure
of the starter motor may result.

7.6 TO STOP THE ENGINE

(a)
Return the speed control lever to the "idle"
position.
(b)
Switch the key to the "off" position and
remove the key.
TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP THE MACHINE
(a)
Gradually release the pressure on the foot
pedal to allow the pedal to return to
neutral and the machine will come to a
halt.
(b)
Disengage the drive to the cutting
cylinders by putting the control lever in the
neutral position.
(c)
Apply parking brake.
