Transmission Line
cabinet
Loudspeakers based on the Transmission Line principle have great
advantages in the low bass range.  has exploited this principle
for many years with great success.
In a transmission-line cabinet the sound energy radiated from the
reverse face of the bass driver membrane is passed to the
outside air via a long duct (the transmission line) and a large
opening.
The result is an outstandingly dry, clean bass reproduction.
The clear advantage of this design is the characteristically
dynamic and deep-reaching low bass. The disadvantage is a
certain non-linearity in the upper bass range (150-250 Hz) which
is inherent in the design. It is a result of interference effects
between the sound emanating from the drive unit cone and the
transmission line opening.
 has developed different solutions to eliminate this
deficiency, exploiting the advantages of the Transmission Line
principle, but exhibiting no significant non-linearity in the
frequency response.
One of the solutions is a clever driver arrangement and the use
of acoustical filters and special sound absorbing materials, which
suppress some of the upper bass range sound, but still works like
the traditional transmission line in the low bass range.
