Principles of speaker cabinet design
Sealed cabinet
The volume of the cabinet has al-ways had a crucial influence on
a dynamic loudspeaker's reproduction of low frequencies. The
design and construction of the enclosure also has an important
influence on the level of bass response and the lower limit
frequency.
We at make use of different design principles for our
speakers, depending on the size of the cabinet and its main
intended use:
Sealed cabinet
Bass reflex cabinet
Transmission Absorbing Line cabinet
This is the simplest design. The low-frequency driver unit is
installed in a sealed, air-tight, damped enclosure.
The sound from the rear face of the membrane is absorbed
inside the cabinet.
If the driver units and the parameters of the en-closure are
correctly designed, the result is a speaker with very good impulse
response.
We use sealed cabinets normally for our actively regulated
loudspeakers, sub-woofers and the high end SOLITAIRE
loudspeakers.
