Digital Surround

The  loudspeaker range includes all the components you
need to set up a complete surround loudspeaker system. A
complete, no-compromise multi-channel home cinema system
requires five, seven or more loudspeakers of equal quality, catering
for the front, centre and rear of the sound stage. Active sub-woofers
are used for the bass range.
A digital surround system includes five, seven or more equal-
value channels plus a sub-woofer channel. All the channels are
independent and feature unlimited frequency ranges. This means
that the transmission characteristics of all channels should be
identical, i. e. all paths require electronics of the same high
quality, and all the loudspeakers should be of similar quality. The
point of this level of sophistication is best explained by the
following example:
Imagine that the heavyweight main character in a film runs from
front to back; if the rear loudspeakers are smaller than those at
the front, he will turn from a heavyweight into a lightweight as he
proceeds.
We recommend using loudspeakers which are as nearly identical
as possible.
 centre speakers are designed in such a way that they can
be set up vertically or horizontally. This makes it possible to
implement genuine 5.1 or 7.1 digital surround systems for home
cinema applications using 5 or 7 loudspeakers of equal quality.
If this level of refinement seems too extreme for you, or if you
simply don't have the space, the alternative is to assemble your
surround system using other speakers from the extensive 
range. In either case the arrangement of loudspeakers shown
below should be observed:
The centre loudspeaker should be set up immediately adjacent to
the television set.
If your primary interest lies in top-quality high-end stereo sound,
the front speakers should be high-end loudspeakers, and in this
case the other surround speakers can be smaller units and still
give good results.
Our loudspeakers are carefully matched in terms of sound
quality, ensuring that they harmonise well as a surround set.
Setting up the active sub-woofer is straightforward: it can be
positioned anywhere in the room, although the ideal location is in
the front of the room.
To exploit the spatial acoustic effects to the full we recommend
that you set up the sub-woofer in one corner of the listening
room. However, please note that it should always be set up close
to a wall.
