Adjusting the levels

The acoustic qualities of some listening rooms may necessitate
an adjustment in the bass level. For example, if the speakers are
close to a wall it is often necessary to reduce the level of the
bass output.
Some loudspeaker series include a multi-stage switch for this
purpose. The switch is located on the rear face of the
loudspeaker.
This switch allows you to adjust the volume of the bass range to
compensate for the speaker location. For example, we
recommend that you set the switch position to +1.5 if the
speakers are located a long way from the nearest wall (> 1.5 m).
At the other extreme, if the speakers are very close to the wall, in
our experience the best sound is obtained with the switch set to
0 dB. Setting up the speakers in the corners of a room often
requires a setting of -1.5 dB.
In the same way that it is necessary to adjust the bass to suit the
acoustic characteristics of the listening room, CWT series
loudspeakers enable the user to fine-tune the high-frequency and
mid-range levels. The usual back panel switches for the bass
range are complemented by two more switches, for which the
factory default setting is 0 dB.
Both switches provide volume adjustment of +/- 1.5 dB. These
adjustments may be useful if your listening room is particularly
reverberant or extremely highly damped. For highly reverberant
rooms we recommend the -1.5 dB setting. On the other hand, if
your room is very severely damped a lift of 1.5 dB may give more
favourable results.
