Potential accident risk
Never ride with a loose headset bearing.
The steering tube could break and cause
total loss of control over your bike. This
could lead to a fall or accident in which
you and/or other persons may be injured.
Headset bearing
In case of questions or problems with
a loose steering head bearing, please
consult a qualified professional bicycle
repair shop.
Suspension fork / rear suspension
The suspension fork and rear suspensi-
on installed in your ROTWILD bike are
safety-relevant components. Any mainte-
nance, adjustments or dismantling of the
forks/shocks should only be carried out by
an experienced bicycle mechanic.
• Make sure that your suspension forks and
rear suspension always have clean sliding
tubes.
• Clean your forks and the rear shock with
a soft sponge and clear water after every
ride.
• After cleaning and drying, apply a very
thin layer of resin and acid free lubricant
to the sliding surfaces. Suitable oils (e.g.
Teflon sprays) are available from most
qualified professional bicycle workshops.
Pedals
Check regularly that the pedals are
securely attached to the cranks. Please
remember that left and right pedals have
different threads.
Crank and bottom bracket bearings
The bottom bracket installed in your ROT-
WILD bike is a completely closed system
with sealed industrial standard bearings.
This means that exterior maintenance
and care are not required. You need only
check if the crank is securely mounted
and the bearings are running smoothly
and without any noises. If the bottom bra-
cket shows signs of play, please take your
bike to a qualified professional workshop.
Wheels
Check your rims for splitting and round

running. Check the tension of your spokes
regularly, they may become loose under
constantly changing stresses.
Potential accident risk
Broken spokes and diametrically opposite
spokes must be replaced immediately.
After replacement, the front/rear wheel
must be re-centred by a qualified profes-
sional workshop.
Chain
Have the wear on your chain checked at
regular intervals by a qualified professi-
onal workshop, at least every 1000 km.
ROTWILD recommends that you consult
an approved ROTWILD dealer.
Lubricate the chain regularly, at least
every 300 km.
Do not soak your chain in cleaning
solutions, and do not use chain cleaning
devices, as these will remove the lubri-
cants from the chain rollers.
Be environmentally aware – use only
biodegradable lubricants. Lubricate the
chain with an appropriate chain lubricant.
Run the chain backwards with a few turns
of the crank and wipe excess lubricant
from the chain with a dry, lint-free cloth.
