13. SPEED MEASUREMENT

The 7 in 1 multimeter has an optical
speed sensor (see figure 2, item 8) that
can be used to record propeller or rotor
blade speeds contact-free and without
any great effort.
The 7 in 1 multimeter must be held so
that the optical sensor has a distance of
approx. 10 - 20 cm to the propeller or
rotor. Propellers can be measured with
1 - 5 blades.
The current supply to the 7 in 1 multim-
eter for speed measurement is provided
by a rechargeable battery connected to
the balancer connection.
Attention!
The speed measurement should be performed outside in sunlight since grid-
operated light sources will generate measuring errors. If a speed measurement
must be performed inside, a torch can be used because it does not emit grid-
frequency light.
Important!
When measuring propeller and rotor speeds, observe that you do not come too
close to any rotating parts and that no pieces of clothing, bracelets or other
objects get into the rotating area. The model to be measured should be held
securely by a helper.
