Closed Position

The lid is closed and lies above the base. Use this position for heating up and when
grilling most types of food (e.g. meat). After placing your food onto the grilling sur-
face of the base, fold the lid down carefully onto your food. If required, adjust the
lid via the height control feature to the size of your food (see above: 'Height Control
Feature'). Using this method, your food will be cooked energy saving in the quickest
possible way, because both sides will be cooked at the same time.
Usage:
for burgers, boneless slices of meat and fish, vegetables. Grilling any com-
bination of ingredients (e.g. vegetables, meats, and cheeses) layered between two
pieces of bread or folded tortilla and pita.

Open Position

The lid is folded up to the upright position. After heating up, by the handle, carefully
fold the lid up until it stays in the stable upper position. Then place your food onto the
grilling surface of the base. During the grilling process, leave the lid in this position.
Usage: cooking items, for which the upper grilling plate is not needed (e.g. kebabs,
fish, pizza, items with soft toppings), because they shall be heated at one side only.

Flat Position

The lid is folded back and lies level with the base, creating a second grilling sur-
face. To fold the lid back to the flat position, hold the lid by the handle in the open
position and press the hinge release button. Then carefully fold the lid back to the
180° flat position.
Usage: As with the open position. Grilling larger amounts of food; cooking food with
different thickness simultaneously; cooking different types of food on different grilling
surfaces simultaneously, if you wish to avoid combining flavours (e.g. fish and sausa-
ges); grilling French toast, hash browns, open sandwiches, and kebabs.
WARNING:
to touch the frame of the lid with your arm. Do not attempt to fold the lid to the flat
position violently (see: 'Knowing Your ›Design BBQ Pro‹'). When cooking in the flat
position, always ensure that the drip tray is pushed completely into place below the
base of the appliance to avoid injuries and damage due to hot juices running out.
The front plate of the drip tray may not stick out of the housing of the appliance.

GRILLING TIMER

The appliance offers a timer (TIME) for setting the desired grilling time. The heating ele-
ments will only heat with the timer set. This timer is designed like an egg watch with
