Care and maintenance

Clean the model carefully after every run, and remove any water which penetrates the hull. If water gets
into the RC components, dry them out carefully and send them to your nearest GRAUPNER Service
Centre for checking.
Clean the model and transmitter using suitable cleaning agents only. All you need is a lint-free cloth.
Never use chemical cleaners, solvents, methylated spirits, white spirit or similar.
Lubricate the propeller shafts at regular intervals by applying a small drop of oil to the bearings. Use a
type of oil which does not soil or contaminate water, e.g. Order No. 206. At the end of the season we
recommend that you remove the propeller shaft and re-lubricate it using water-neutral grease, Order
No. 570.

Assembling the model

Carefully unpack the model and the boatstand.
Cautiously lift off the superstructure to open the
deck, so that the receiving system can be installed.
IMPORTANT: release the rigging between the
funnels and the deck before removing the
superstructure; the hooks are connected to small
rings on the deck. Take care not to break off any
fittings. Locate the hatch which provides access to
the rudder system for maintenance, and press it
out carefully from the inside. NOTE: the ship's
boats are not fitted until later.
Solder G2 plugs to the wires attached to the
motors; they are wired in parallel, and rotate in
opposite directions (contra-rotating propellers).
Refer here to the wiring diagram on page 7 (+ is
red, - is black). Ensure that the motors spin in the
correct directions: when the battery is connected,
the propellers should rotate in such a way that the
model would be propelled forward. NOTE: the
raised lug on the plastic housing of all G2
connectors should always be the positive terminal
(red wire). If you keep consistently to this principle, your batteries and speed controllers will be
interchangeable, and the system will be protected against accidental reversed polarity. To make it
easier to solder the plug, it is advisable to use one of the following methods, as this will reduce the
likelihood of damaging the model with the soldering iron. METHOD 1: remove the motors from the
model by first loosening the screws in the servo plate, then undoing the grubscrews in the propellers
and withdrawing them. Undo the motor screws
(don't remove them completely!) and withdraw the
motors to the point where the shaft couplings are
visible. Locate the grubscrews in the couplings
which retain the motor shafts, undo them, and then
lift the motors out of the model. The motors can
later be re-installed simply by reversing the above
sequence of operations. Check that all the
grubscrews are tight when you do this. METHOD
2: if you have a friend to help you, you should ask
him or her to hold the boat at an angle and support
the motor wires out of the model. The plug can
then be soldered to the wires at a safe distance
from the model. METHOD 3: use a "third hand" (a
special positionable part-holding tool) to hold the
plug, and use the soldering iron directly inside the
hull.
