Inserting/changing the batteries

Keep batteries away from children.
Pay attention to the correct polarity when inserting the battery.
Remove the battery if you do not intend to use the device for
longer periods of time to prevent damage through leaking. Leak-
ing or damaged batteries may cause acid burns when coming
into contact with skin.
Therefore, wear protective gloves when handling damaged bat-
teries.
Keep batteries out of reach of children. Do not let batteries lie
around openly. There is the risk of batteries being swallowed by
children or pets.
Make sure that the batteries are neither short-circuited nor
thrown into a fire. Do not recharge batteries. Danger of explo-
sion!
Saved data is lost when changing the batteries. Therefore you
have to make all settings / programming operations again.
• Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
• Insert two new 1.5V mignon batteries (AA) in the battery compartment paying
attention to the polarity. The correct polarity is stated in the battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment.
• A few seconds later, the clock starts searching for the DCF signal and starts a
reception attempt. Do not press any of the buttons during this phase.
• If the contrast of the display fades, the battery is discharged and must be replaced
as described above.
• To ensure a long battery lifespan, only use alkaline batteries.
Due to the lesser voltage and capacity, the use of rechargeable bat-
teries results in reduced operating time.
