Using the position alarm

Availability / Use

NOTE
This position alarm is available only using handsets FC3 L with an in-
tegrated position sensor.
A handset equipped with an integrated position sensor may increase the per-
sonal safety of its bearer by automatically releasing a position alarm in case of
an aciddent and establishing a handsfree telephone connection by dialling an
emergency call number for the position alarm which has been set up once be-
fore.
The 'Position alarm' feature must be configured (set up) on the handset prior
to its first use. See Menu > Phone settings > Position alarm ... , as described
from page 133.
Moreover, proper fastening of the handset in an upright position on the re-
spective person's clothing is required so that an unusually strong inclination of
the unit – e.g. when this person falls, faints or has an accident – is identified
and can trigger a position alarm.
CAUTION
Never move this rear loudspeaker directly near your ear during a
position alarm!
A level of more than 80 dB (A) as measured at the sound source can
be reached when signalling and in open listening (handsfree talking)
and may cause a permanent hearing defect when the distance
between the loudspeaker and the ear is too small or when this effect
occurs very often.
