4. Ensure that the fuel filter insert (5b) is in the filler
neck.
5. Fill the fuel tank (5) with fuel using a funnel.
Observe the maximum filling quantity (see technical
Data).
Carefully fill the fuel up to the lower edge of the filler
neck.
6. Seal the tank cover (5a) again by placing it straight on
and turning it clockwise. Make sure that the tank cover
(5a) is completely sealed to prevent leaks and evapo-
ration.
7. Clean the tank cover (5a) and the surroundings.
8. Check the fuel tank (5) and fuel lines for leaks.

10 Operation

DANGER
Danger of poisoning!
Only use the product outdoors and never in closed or
poorly ventilated rooms.
WARNING
Check the safety equipment regularly before each start-
up. Faulty safety equipment can cause serious injuries!
WARNING
Please observe the legal provisions from the noise pro-
tection ordinance.
• When working in ditches, hollows or in cramped con-
ditions, always ensure there is sufficient air exchange.
Danger to life due to poisoning!
• Operate the product with low noise and emissions - do
not allow the engine to run unnecessarily, only accel-
erate when working.
• Anyone who works with the product must be rested,
healthy and in good condition.

Starting the engine (6) (Fig. 9, 10)
ATTENTION
– Always pull the pull starter out straight.
– Hold the handle of the pull starter firmly when the
pull starter winds back in.
– Do not let the pull starter whip back in. This can re-
sult in damage.
– Do not pull the pull starter all the way out. This pre-
vents the starter cable breaking.
– In case of cool weather, it may be necessary to re-
peat the starting process numerous times.
10.1.1

Starting a cold engine

Notes:
With high outside temperatures, it may be necessary to
start the engine without the choke even when the engine
is cold!
As soon as the choke is opened after starting, the product
will begin to shake at half throttle.
1. Before starting, check the fuel and engine oil levels
and ensure that the spark plug connector (16a) is con-
nected to the spark plug (16).
2. Open the fuel tap (12c).
3. Set the on/off switch (15) to the "ON" position.
4. Set the throttle (2) to "half throttle" (= middle position
between "fast" and "slow").
5. Move the choke (12b) to the "Closed" ( ) position.
6. Slowly pull out the pull starter (7) until the first resis-
tance is felt.
7. Now pull the pull starter (7) quickly until the engine
starts.
If the engine does not start, repeat the procedure.
8. Allow the engine (6) to warm up briefly. Then slowly
open the choke (12b) to switch to "Normal operation"
9. Set the throttle (2) to the working position ("fast") and
the product starts to work.
10. Set the throttle (2) to the idle ("slow") position and the
product runs at idle.
10.1.2
(The product stood still for less than 15-20 minutes.)

4. Set the throttle (2) to "half throttle" (= middle position
between "fast" and "slow").
5. Slowly pull out the pull starter (7) until the first resis-
tance is felt.
6. Now pull the pull starter (7) quickly until the engine
starts.
If the product still does not start after 6 pulls, repeat
the procedure as described in 10.1.1.
7. The engine will start.
8. Set the throttle (2) to the working position ("fast") and
the product starts to work.
9. Set the throttle (2) to the idle ("slow") position and the
product runs at idle.
10.2
Stopping the engine (6) (Fig. 9, 10)
10.2.1
1. If it is necessary to stop the product immediately, set
the on/off switch (15) to the "OFF" position. The en-
gine (6) comes to a standstill as quickly as possible.
10.2.2
1. Set the throttle (2) to the idle ("slow") position. The en-
gine (6) goes into idle speed.
2. Let the engine (6) cool down for a minute or two at
idle before stopping it.
3. Set the on/off switch (15) to the "OFF" position. The
engine (6) comes to a standstill.
