OPERATING THE CUTTING KNIFE
Warning! Remove the accumulator before checking the knife or knife retainer shaft.
If the knife hits an object, stop the engine, remove the battery and inspect the mower for
damage. Inspect the cutter knife, drive shaft, or adapter to which the knife is attached for
damage (bent or broken).
Frequently check the knives for bent, excessively worn, or any other damage such as cracks
or deformations.
Damaged parts must be replaced with new ones recommended by the manufacturer. For
safety, replace the knives every two years. The knives should be sharpened well (see chapter
"Sharpening the knife" for details). Blunt knives tug the grass causing yellowing of the grass
tips.
Attention! After each sharpening, the knife must be carefully balanced. An unbalanced knife
can cause dangerous vibrations that can damage the mower and/or cause an accident.")
Check the knife mounting bolt frequently. The bolt must be tightened to a torque of 45 to 55
Nm.
REMOVAL OF THE KNIFE
Knife 2 (Fig. 14) can be very sharp to protect your hands from injury, wear protective gloves.
• Use a wooden block to prevent the knife from rotating.
• Remove the screw that secures the knife.
• Check the condition of the knife (see chapter 'Operating the knife').
• Replace a worn or damaged knife with a new one recommended by the manufacturer.
It is recommended to use MURRAY knives dedicated to your mower model.
Attention! When installing the knife, be sure to take into account the direction of the knife.
If the knife is attached incorrectly, it will not mow properly and may cause an accident.
• Tighten the bolt to a torque of 45 to 55 Nm. A mounting bolt that is too tight can cause
the knife to loosen and cause an accident.
