• Ensure that you adopt a comfortable posture when
using the device and change it to avoid discomfort.
• Stop using the device if you experience numbness,
tingling, pain or lightening of the skin in the fingers or
hands and consult a doctor.
Hazards due to accessories
• Attention: Disconnect the device from the com-
pressed air network before carrying out mainte-
nance and cleaning work.
• Only use sizes and types of accessories and consum-
ables that are recommended by the manufacturer.
• Do not use chisels as a hand tool. They have been
specially designed for use with a chisel hammer.
• Only use sharp chisels as blunt chisels require more
pressure and may break, as well as increase the vi-
bration.
• Do not cool hot tools in water. This can result in dam-
age.
• Do not use chisels as a lever tool.
• Never touch the chisel during and after operating the
device. You could injure your fingers or hands. The
chisel can become hot.
• Do not use any defective devices. Replace defective
parts to prevent injuries.
Hazards in the workplace
• Slips, trips and falls are major causes of injuries at the
workplace. Watch out for slippery surfaces due to us-
ing the tool and also for trip hazards due to the air hose.
• Beware of hidden hazards such as electrical lines or
gas and water lines.
• This device is not insulated if it touches an electrical
line. Always avoid any contact with electrical lines.
The device is not suitable for use in explosive at-
mospheres.
• The device is not suitable for use in explosive at-
mospheres: Sparks can occur when working with
this device. Therefore, never work with this device in
the vicinity of combustible materials, fluids or gases
Hazards due to dust and vapours
• Dusts and gases can be dangerous to health for op-
erating personnel depending on the material being
processed (e.g. cancer, birth defects, asthma and/
or dermatitis).
• Make sure that escaping air stirs up as little dust as
possible.
• Wear a suitable dust protection mask which corre-
sponds to the application and the generally valid
safety rules.
Noise hazard
• Noise can cause permanent hearing damage.
• Unprotected exposure to high sound levels can lead
to hearing loss and other problems such as tinnitus
(ringing, humming, whistling or buzzing in the ears).
Wear hearing protection.
• In order to keep sounds and vibrations to a minimum,
follow the maintenance and usage instructions de-
scribed in the manual. Vibration-reducing material as
an intermediate layer, such as those used in sheet
metal working, can also reduce the sound.
Hazards due to vibrations
• The effect of vibrations can cause damage to the
nerves and malfunctions of the blood circulation in
hands and arms.
• Wear warm clothing if you are working in a cold envi-
ronment. Keep your hands warm and dry.
• Stop using the device if you experience numbness,
tingling, pain or lightening of the skin in the fingers or
hands and consult a doctor.
• Do not hold the tool attachment with your free hand
as this results in increased vibrations.
• Hold the device with a light but secure grip and take
the occurring reactive forces into account. The risk
of discomfort due to vibration is usually higher with
a firm grip.
Additional safety instructions for pneumatic ma-
chines
• Compressed air can result in serious injuries.
• Disconnect the compressed air connection and de-
pressurise the device before maintaining, repairing,
transporting or carrying out a chisel change on the
device.
• Never direct the airflow towards yourself or towards
other people.
• Hoses whipping around can cause serious injuries.
Therefore, always check that the hoses and their fas-
teners are undamaged and have not loosened off.
• When disconnecting the quick coupling, hold the
hose firmly in your hand and do not use any defec-
tive connections to avoid injuries caused by a com-
pressed air hose whipping around.
• Do not allow cold air to flow over your hand.
• Do not use any quick-release couplings on the air
intake. Use threaded hose connections made of
hardened steel (or a material of comparable shock
resistance).
