Device settings
Adjusting the auxiliary handle
You can move the auxiliary handle (15)
to different positions. Adjust the auxiliary
handle so that the spool cap (12) is tilted
slightly forward as you work (see Cutting
grass, p. 31).
Procedure (Fig. C.1)
1. Press the locking button (5) on the aux-
iliary handle (15).
2. Adjust the auxiliary handle (15) to the
desired position. The integrated latch-
ing steps prevent the handle changing
position unintentionally.
Adjusting the spacer
The spacer (plant protection) (13) keeps
plants and stems that are not to be cut
away from the cutting unit.
Procedure (Fig. C.2)
1. Fold the spacer (13) down.

2. Fold the spacer (13) up (resting posi-
tion) when it is not needed.
Extending the cutting line
The device is equipped with a fully auto-
matic line tracker . The line extends auto-
matically every time the device is switched
on. For proper functioning of the automat-
ic line extension mechanism, the spool
(11) must have stopped completely be-
fore you restart the device. If the line is ini-
tially longer than the cutting circle, the line
cutter (27) will automatically shorten them
to the correct length.
Procedure (Fig. D)
1. Check the nylon line regularly for dam-
age and make sure the cutting line still
has the length specified by the line cut-
ter.
2. If no line ends are visible:
Replace the spool (see Maintenance,
p. 33).
3. Adjust the line length manu-
ally:
Remove the battery (17) from the
device!
Lightly pull on the line end and press
the locking button (25) repeatedly if
necessary until the line end protrudes
beyond the line cutter (27).
